The best picture I have for what VFL provides comes from medicine. In medical school, you learn a lot by studying and listening. But you truly grow when you enter residency, because that’s when you apprentice under someone who models, corrects, and then releases you to practice with increasing autonomy. That’s how you develop both skill and confidence. VFL is designed the same way: it gives you connection and fidelity, but also a safe place to practice—teaching and being taught, mentoring and learning, all at the same time.

I’m grateful for VFL. It’s been a place to not just consume knowledge but to practice faith in community, with feedback and encouragement, and to grow in confidence that God can use me to both receive and give.

I am 48 years old and just became a believer in Jesus in April of 2025. Everyone in my life was thrilled and acting like I had reached some finish line. I was left with a crushing question of “now what?” I believe so what do I do with it? This is when I was introduced to virtual faith link. 

It has been exactly what I needed to have a way to explore this new faith and really learn what the Bible has to tell me about Jesus and living as a believer. I still have so many questions that kept me from believing in the first place. Now I have a real and tangible way to explore those questions and discuss what I am reading with a group of believers wanting to explore more with me. further throughout our families and friends and beyond.

As the calendar goes, I’m in the middle years of life. Better said, I’m in the middle of the middle years of life, a fact which has somehow completely caught me off guard. In the busyness of life as a wife, mother and physician I’ve been moving forward, onward and upward, but frankly-sometimes just moving. I developed a certain level of comfort with this Ecclesiastical merry-go-round which gave me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Slowly over time church attendance and other religious activities became a substitute for a real relationship with the Father.

Virtual Faith link (VFL) is a personal connection with a small group of other believers on a shared journey to read, interpret, and apply the Bible. This approach is unhurried and methodical. We meet informally, yet not casually. Our collective study helps me to understand the Bible and my role in the body of Christ in a way I never grasped before.
